Grocery Prices: Russia vs. America
Comparing the prices of eggs, bacon, milk, and apples in Moscow and Los Angeles
I just came across a great little video that does a wonderful job of showing how different it can be for someone shopping in Russia, versus shopping in the USA. The food quality may be similar, but the prices often are not.
While Sasha walks through a Russian supermarket in Moscow, her friend Dan walks through an American supermarket in Los Angeles, California. They purchase the same products, including bacon, eggs, milk, and a few other items — just enough groceries to make a nice breakfast — and they compare prices.
In Moscow, Sasha picked up a liter of milk for 69 Rubles, which at the current exchange rate would be about 75 cents in America, which makes it about $3.00 per gallon.
