President Putin Congratulates Russians on Pascha (Easter)
He also gave thanks for the work of the Russian Orthodox Church
MOSCOW, May 5 – RIA Novosti. President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russians and Orthodox Christians on Easter; the corresponding message was published on the Kremlin website.
“It is important to note the creative, fruitful work of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations, aimed at preserving our rich historical, cultural, spiritual heritage, strengthening the institution of family, educating young people, establishing in society such enduring values and moral guidelines as caring for one’s neighbor, mercy and compassion,” he said.
Putin pointed out that spiritual shepherds have always been with the people. “And today, in the face of serious challenges, Christian religious organizations provide effective, selfless assistance to those who need support and attention,” the head of state added.
The President noted that Pascha (Easter) celebrations in Russia have rich spiritual traditions that unite millions of people, are passed down from generation to generation, and inspire good deeds and aspirations.
The head of state also congratulated Patriarch Kirill on Easter. He thanked the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church for his tireless ascetic service, his great personal contribution to the preservation of the values of Orthodoxy, the traditions of the people of Russia, and the education of the younger generation, as well as “for fruitful cooperation in the current difficult period, when it is so important for us to join forces for the confident development and strengthening of the fatherland.”
Putin added that the Pascha holiday, which is celebrated by Christians all over the world, awakens the kindest feelings in the hearts of people, gives them joy and hope, and strengthens them in faith. In addition, the president wished the patriarch health and all the best.
