Russian Church Refutes Evolution in Excellent New Three-Volume Book Set
"The Orthodox Doctrine of Creation and the Theories of Evolution"
"The Orthodox Doctrine of Creation and the Theories of Evolution" is an excellent resource for those wanting to understand the Orthodox Church’s teachings on this important subject.
Upon publication of the very first volume, this work received the Church’s official endorsement: “Approved for Distribution by the Publication Board of the Russian Orthodox Church”. This endorsement, not easily obtained by authors, speaks to the high quality of this particular publication. The following video provides a helpful introduction to this three-volume set:
Fr. Constantine Bufeev has been a Russian Orthodox priest for more than thirty years. Prior to that, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute, and he worked as a geological engineer by profession. With years of training in both geology and theology, Fr. Constantine has written these phenominal books about the Orthodox Doctrine of Creation.
This three-volume work is dedicated to Fr. Seraphim Rose. The preface to the first volume is written by Hiermonk Damascene Christensen, his disciple, an abbot in America. For the second and third volumes, a preface was written by a Georgian elder, Fr. Raphael Karelin.
The first volume is "The Orthodox Doctrine of Creation and the Theories of Evolution". This volume contains the teachings of the Church based on the teachings of Scripture and the teachings of the Holy Fathers. The contents of this book speak of the creation of the world and the creation of man, according to Orthodox Church tradition.
The second volume, "The Orthodox Doctrine of Creation and the Classics of Evolution", is devoted to the three founders of this doctrine: Charles Darwin in the first part, Academician Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky in the second part, and in the third part, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, the first Western theologian who decided to combine the doctrine of evolution with the doctrine of creation. The author presents a detailed scientific and theological analysis of these three "whales" of evolution. The book also contains a philosophical introduction to the topic and an artistic conclusion to the topic.
The third volume is "The Orthodox Doctrine of Creation and Modernist Theology". It presents an analysis of those authors and their erroneous judgments on this topic, which are expressed in the theological and scholarly milieu.
So these three volumes are interrelated. The first one gives the Church's spiritual foundation and the origin of evolutionary teaching. The second gives the scientific origins. And the third volume speaks to the relevance of this topic through examples of theological and scientific errors which continue to the present day.
This remarkable three-volume book should be of interest to many readers, to those who are Orthodox, to those who are engaged in science, and to all who are interested in this particular subject.
The Orthodox Church has faithfully taught the truth for two thousand years. It is a blessing to see that they continue doing so today.
Is this available in English? If not, when will it be?
This is worth having a dialogue with Word on Fire Catholic ministries. Does the Orthodox Church teach Genesis literally? Curious.
