Russian Delegation Entered Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem
In preparation for the descent of the Holy Fire of Pascha
MOSCOW, May 4/ Radio Sputnik. The Russian Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called (FA1) said its delegation entered the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem, better known as the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where the descent of the Holy Fire is expected on Saturday.
The day before, the foundation’s delegation received the blessing of Patriarch Theophilus III of Jerusalem before carrying out a mission to deliver fire to Russia, according to RIA Novosti.
It is expected that the Holy Fire will be delivered to Moscow on the night of May 5 for the Easter patriarchal service in the capital's Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The lamps lit from it will be transferred to 15 churches in the capital, a list of which is available on the FA1 website.
In addition, at Moscow's Vnukovo 3 airport, representatives of the dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church will be waiting for the fire to take it to dozens of cities throughout Russia.
The national television broadcast of the ceremony of the descent of the Holy Fire in Jerusalem will be carried out in Russia by Channel One, NTV and Rossiya 1.
