We just flew to Sochi yesterday. My daughter Kimberly and I are scheduled to speak at a conference here tomorrow, and several of my other children wanted to come along too.
During the flight, just before arriving in Sochi, we were greeted by the impressive Caucasus mountains.
These mountains are not only breathtaking — they also contribute to Sochi’s fantastic weather. Stretching more than 10,000 ft. towards the sky, they block the cold northern winds, protecting Sochi’s subtropical climate.
Exiting the airport, we were pleased to see some of the local palm trees. We also encountered a popular five-ring logo, commemorating the 2014 Olympic games which were held in Sochi.
Then we took a walk at one of Sochi’s lovely beaches, drinking in the local music and a gorgeous sunset on the Black Sea.
Yesterday was my first evening in Sochi, so I am no expert. But what I have seen so far, I like very much. I can understand why some friends of ours recently built a home in this area.
My family and I are looking forward to exploring more of what Sochi has to offer over our next several days here.
Looks like a great place Fr, I hope to visit some day!
A great publication Fr. joseph. I read it and pass it along to friends. A Russian Orthodox Christian.
